PAKISTAN IS NOW IN ASSESSMENT LEVEL 2

Pakistan-level-2

ASSESSMENT LEVEL 2 FOR AUSTRALIAN UNIVERSITIES STUDENT VISA

(AL) Assessment Level falls under the AL Framework which manages immigration risk in the student visa program by asking for minimum requirements as evidence for student visa applications. The risk posed is categorized by your passport country and main course of study you’re applying for in a particular student visa.

The Migration Regulations determine what level of English language proficiency, financial requirements and previous study you must provide based on your assessment level.

Assessment LEVEL 1 represents the LOWEST immigration risk and assessment LEVEL 3 the HIGHEST. The higher the assessment level, the greater the evidence you as a potential student is required to demonstrate to support your claims for a student visa.

However something to note is that if you are eligible for streamlined visa processing, you are not assigned an assessment level. Under the streamlined visa processing arrangements student visa applicants are generally subject to less requirements, similar to Assessment Level 1, regardless of the passport you hold.Pakistan is now in Assessment Level 2 among other countries for Australia student visa. This is very beneficial for students willing to study & work in Australia. So now, Pakistani students have the option to apply for Diploma or any Certification, which was not allowed before. For many years, Pakistan had been in Assessment Level 3 which meant restrictions based on funds (financial status) and English Language requirements.

How are Asessment Levels decided?

Australian Student Visas are granted on the basis the student can meet the Assessment Level, which is decided by:

  • The passport held by the student visa applicant; and
  • The visa subclass the student visa applicant is applying for.

The assessment levels determine, in general, how likely a student will comply with the conditions of an Australian Student Visa.

Assessment level 1 represents the lowest assessment level and 5 the highest assessment level.

Where the higher the assessment level, the more evidence the student will have to provide on such things as English language and financial capacity.
